interplanetary

Some of you may know that my husband recently returned to Penn State to finish his degree. He's what they call an Adult Learner, which for some reason, that title just makes me chuckle. I'm enormously proud of him, because he has not only found a way to take classes and work full time, but he is managing to do so darn well in his studies; taking subjects that would make my head spin. He's such a smarty-magoo.

So I guess you could say we are in transition--again.

Yesterday, I escaped to my metalsmithing studio (i.e. our dirty garage, but it sounds so much prettier when I say "studio") crafting this particular ring. Every time I create a project, I try to push my boundaries a little further; try to relearn some techniques that are covered in cobwebs somewhere in the recesses of my memory banks. This ring started out one way, and ended up another, as the best plans often do. I laughed at myself when I realized where the design was headed in spite of my better efforts--you see when you look at this ring face on, it reminds me of a grouping of planets all in a row. To me it's like The Universe is having a laugh with me: our lives has been so hectic lately, with never enough time in the day...and always feeling like we're taking 2 steps forward 3 steps back. So in this case, at least, the planets did align.

I plan on listing this ring in the shop, but first I have to take it off my finger. I'm kind of addicted to it right now.

Sterling and Argentium Silver, Druzy, Moonstone

9/18/10 Update: This ring is now for sale. You can find it HERE.
