sweet autumn

The sweet autumn clematis defied all odds and burst into bloom this week. What a wonderful surprise! I wanted to photograph the handful of flowers it gave us this season, as I'm hoping next year, after a full year of growth, it will be quite transformed.

Have you noticed how incredibly lovely this time of year is? Here in central PA the sky is a china blue and, at the end of the day, the setting sun lights up the leaves of the trees so they looked like they were dipped in liquid gold. Some afternoons, when we are taking our dog for her walk, it's like walking through a Renaissance painting and I'm so grateful for living in such a beautiful part of the country.

Wait until that plant is 2 or 3 years old! The scent fills the air and the plant becomes a living wall! Ours is just about finished blooming for the season now.
