Poor
Madame Hardy. She was the subject of yet another one of my failed attempts to cheat the Laws of Proper Plant Placement, by installing her in a shady, overgrown, poorly amended, poorly drained garden plot; and she paid the price for my folly with stunted growth and fungal disease.
Here she is, finally uprooted from her sad situation and placed in intensive care for recovery...

Here is her identical twin--planted (at the same time) in an appropriate spot with all the necessary growing conditions; which just goes to show, it really does pay to do it right the first time.
And on that note, if you're looking for a great book to help with choosing a plant and it's proper placement, try this one...it's very helpful!
