I had the best idea for wedding reception escort cards/table numbers using felt and vintage china cups and sugar dishes (of which I have a plethora). The only problem is, I already had my wedding. That didn't stop me, though, from wanting to create this adorable pin cushion, as I have always wanted to learn some very basic felting techniques and this seemed like the perfect excuse. I found this great tutorial for making felted acorns, and it's pretty much the same technique. (By the way, yes I will be making the acorns, too, already bought the wool). So here's what you will need:

1. Wool roving. I am obsessed with robin's egg blue right now, and this roving was bought on Etsy at this shop.
2. Purchased this sugar bowl for a song because it is missing it's lid. Next time, I think it would be fun to use a teacup!
3. This is a felting mat, which will hold your wool in place. This one was purchased on Ebay. It's the small version--I recommend you buy a larger one for this particular project.
4. Bought a set of felting needles on Etsy from this shop. I used 2 at a time and had good results with that. Be careful, they are SHARP!
I followed the basic instructions for making felted acorns, and because my little ball wasn't enough to stuff the entire sugar dish, I padded the bottom with extra wool. It was that easy. The flower stickers and table card are Martha Stewart.
If you are thinking, hmm, I don't need any escort cards, but I sure do like the idea of a doodle little pincushion, then you MUST check out THIS SHOP. Hands down the most adorable pin toppers I've ever seen in my life. Have fun!

You know, I used to have a little china frog, who had a blue pincushion up on his back. It finally disintegrated. You have a good idea there!
