11.29.10

November is one of those months that tries my patience. Some days it's a struggle to maintain a sunny disposition while combatting the short days, the absence of color, and the inevitable pressure that the holidays bring. I'm finding joy in the little things: decorating for Christmas, buying red lipstick, shopping for colorful gemstones, taking the dog for walks, afternoon tea, and watching the sky for our first snowfall.

A lovely friend on Twitter found this gorgeous vintage brooch for me, and it was my birthday gift to myself. It reminds me of Cinderella's coach.

It's amazing how that little jolt of color can make you feel better. :)

Happy Birthday, Lara! I'd recommend my favorite jewelry maker for another gift for yourself, but I think you know her already (!)

November is a tough month; I'm exhausted from work, etsy, and making holiday meals, so I definitely know the feeling. Before Daylight savings I was driving to work in the dark and driving home in the dark (I work midnights) so it felt like I kept missing the sun!

Love your green fingernails! I hope the birthday was a fun one!
