painting clouds

I have pretty much zip experience painting clouds, and even less with painting with oils, but I've had this idea in my head for a while now that I wanted to take one of my old canvases and paint a summer sky for our bedroom. You know, pale blue sky and white fluffy clouds...so when I open my eyes in the winter, even if it's grey and freezing rain outside, it will feel like a June afternoon indoors. Wellll, my pretty happy sky turned into a dark storm with roiling clouds--what does that say about my state of mind--nothing at all like what I planned! Oh well, it was a lot of fun to take a break from all the jewelry making and try my hand at a new craft. It also gives me an even greater appreciation for those artists that do regularly work with this medium--it is not easy!

Yes, that is Rudolph's rear end you see...I know it's early, but I love Christmas!

Wow! It may not have been your plan, but it turned out beautiful! Like a summer storm, with the air full of ozone. Love it!

That is really a beautiful painting La and I would say it reminds me of the sky in some of the old masters' paintings from the days of Rafael!!!
