shopping ~ vintage & vintage inspired wallpaper

I think when it comes to wallpaper, there are two camps: you either love it or you hate it. I fall in the former category, but with a small caveat, I love it so much that I also hate it--when it's a horrible design. It's those terrible, uninspired, drab, and lots of other not nice words, patterns that ruin it for the rest of the wallpapers, because there are so many of them that are just flat out gorgeous. (Hello, William Morris?) True works of art!

Since we are no longer planning a wedding, we are turning our attention to fixing up the interiors of our home; small cosmetic changes as we are still renting. So far we have reorganized the garage, and moved my studio into the basement, as well as painting and re-doing our bedroom, and just this last weekend the dining room got some attention. (I'll post pics of those later). Next on the list is our bathroom, which already has old, plain, wallpaper in place above some beadboard paneling. Inspiration for this project is our bathroom from our last home which I never did get a chance to finish. Below is a picture of it in progress. See how I painted the rose vines to completely encompass both wall and ceiling? It felt like you were in a bower when you were standing in there. Really nice.

The bathroom in progress at our old home--it never did get finished...

Following are some samples of my favorite wallpaper patterns so far, and let me tell you, I looked at HUNDREDS of patterns this morning so this is really narrowing it down. I'd love to hear which one is your favorite!

I love the last one and the third to last (the green one). Especially the green one!!!! Good luck!

The trees leave me rather cold - the green is my favorite. But other things have to be taken into account, which you would know and we wouldn't. Such as, what kind of light comes in, how much light, what the rest of the room's decor will be like. Or are you going to let the paper dictate how everything else will go in the room? But that green is awfully pretty!

Thank you for your feedback everyone!

I was leaning more toward the birch trees, but I think that's because I am taking my husband's point of view into account--that he might not be too thrilled with flowers.

However, I think if it were just up to me I would choose one of the green ones...ahhh decisions!

Lisa, the room gets A LOT of sunlight. :)

Interesting, I am a product of my generation — so I really like the birch trees!

You're right, Lara - it's good to remember men when tempted to put floral motifs everywhere! If you're not crazy about the trees, you could do it on one or two walls, only.
